When can I start Baby Sign?
The typical age for staring Baby Sign is as early as six months. Your baby needs to be able to make and keep eye contact with you for a few seconds. This is so that you can teach them the sign while SAYING the word. The sign must always be accompanied by the verbalized word.

Will it delay my child's speech?
This is a very contriversal issue. Many people and sites say that it will not delay a child's speech. Others say that it will cause the child to be behind in verbalizing. The key is to pair the sign with the verbalized word. You must also use words that have meaning for the child like, milk, juice, book, ball and things like that. Do not use words like please or more because it will just be used as a catch all word that the child will use for everything. This cause you to be back where you started having a child ask for more of something but you do not know what they want more of. The best thing that you can do is research Baby Sign for yourself to see if it is right for you and your baby.
